Several works of Ledig’s capture intimate moments of motherhood, highlighting the love, exhaustion, and unique bond between mother and child. In describing her work Open Arms, Ledig says "Often my paintings are a reflection on my own inner state and the questions and themes that I deal with at that time. Open Arms [tells] a bit of the mother coming back to the outer world, and her child is naturally part of her."
