Paul Parsons (b. 1986) began his career as a graphic designer in the UK. After nearly 15 years, Parsons delved into the cutting-edge, yet controversial, world of generative Artificial Intelligence. Drawing on pop-culture for inspiration, Parsons harnesses the new technology to put his own spin on recognizable characters, blending them digitally with unexpected mediums or places; snapshots of the Joker on vacation, busts of superheroes like Batman and Superman rendered in ornately painted porcelain and intricate compositions of rolled-up paper, or reimagined as priceless Fabergé pieces. By juxtaposing the subject, material, and context, Parsons creates new narratives that prompt us to view familiar characters from a different perspective.
As a pioneer of AI-generated art, Parsons has worked commercially with a number of iconic brands seeking to explore the ways in which this new technology is applied; most recently, he was tapped by Coca Cola to help launch their “Create Real Magic” campaign. In 2023, Parsons signed on for exclusive gallery representation with Avant Gallery.
