Chimera means many things, including: “a thing that is hoped or wished for but in fact is illusory or impossible to achieve”. In this image the woman’s body is contorted to the idealized extreme as the water pushes and stretches her form. The trees and foliage surrounding her warp as she does, our environment intrinsically tied to us. Chimera speaks to our changing bodies, the quest for perfection, and the effect we have on our rapidly changing environment. Chimera is part of Fitz’s “Between” series, exploring the magic grey area where land and water meet.
