Marcos Anziani
BIO
Marcos Anziani (b. 1984, Dominican Republic) was raised in the Bronx, New York, and lives and works in Orlando, Florida. Rooted in lyrical abstraction and gestural expressionism, his paintings unfold in sweeping strokes, radiant fields of color, and intuitive forms that surface and dissolve across the canvas. Figures emerge not as fixed portraits, but as flickers of memory, emotion, and movement. “The energy of color must be curbed through context and line,” Anziani notes—a guiding principle in his visual practice.
Influenced by Picasso, de Kooning, Miró, and Basquiat, Anziani moves fluidly between tradition and improvisation, synthesizing elements of street art, naïve figuration, and abstract gesture. His work channels both formal experimentation and autobiographical undercurrents, resulting in a visual language that feels at once timeless and immediate.
Anziani has exhibited internationally in New York, Miami, Mexico City, and Moscow, and is held in private collections worldwide. Since 2022, he has been represented exclusively by Avant Gallery. Career milestones include his museum debut at the Norton Museum of Art (2023), his first auction appearance with Sotheby’s, and the solo exhibition Before I Go at Avant Gallery Miami (2023), followed by a featured presentation during Art Miami.
In 2024, he returned to the Norton Museum of Art and presented a sold-out solo booth at the Hamptons Fine Art Fair. His exhibition Home by Dinner was presented by Avant Gallery during Miami Art Week 2024. In 2025 and 2026, Anziani was featured in Avant Gallery's presentations at EXPO Chicago. His work continues to gain recognition among collectors and institutions, reinforcing his position as a rising voice in contemporary abstraction.
