Guy Le Baube

BIO

Guy Le Baube was born in France in 1944 and moved to New York in 1976, becoming part of the city’s influential fashion and creative world.

An award-winning photographer and commercial director, Le Baube built an acclaimed career across fashion, portraiture and advertising. His work has appeared in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire and other leading international publications.

Early in Anna Wintour’s career, Le Baube became a key photographic collaborator, working closely with her on shoots during her formative years as a stylist at Viva and New York—well before her defining tenure at Vogue.

In the early 1990s, Le Baube began moving beyond the conventions of commercial photography, turning his lens toward a more personal body of work that would earn critical acclaim. Glamorous, provocative and often unexpectedly humorous, his photographs balance sensuality with wit and a distinctly French irreverence.

His celebrated nude portraits unfold like visual allegories—intimate, theatrical and frequently punctuated by tongue-in-cheek humor. Drawing equally from childhood imagination, fashion, Surrealism and the private theater of everyday life, Le Baube transforms fleeting moments into images that feel at once elegant, erotic and mischievously subversive.

Across more than five decades, his work has retained an unmistakable point of view: sophisticated without being precious, provocative without losing its sense of play.
