ABOUT MURAD OSMANN
Russian artist Murad Osmann is best known for his ongoing “Follow Me To” series of works featuring his then girlfriend and now wife, Nataly Zakharova, leading him around the world. Traveling to exotic locales and known landmarks alike, the images intrigue and endear viewers to the extent that the series started due to its viral social media success. The fascinating element of concealed identity coupled with breathtaking scenery have turned this duo a social media phenomenon with over two million Instagram followers.
The premise of the ubiquitous “Follow Me To” series was conceived in 2011 during the couple’s trip to Barcelona. Zakharova, tired of her Osmann’s ceaseless photo taking and eager to continue their journey, grabbed him by the hand and pulled him along behind her. With one hand still free, Osmann continued to snap photos, ultimately leading to the series’ premise which always depicts the pair in the equivalent position of Zakharova’s back turned to the camera with an outstretched arm to lead Osmann. Replicating this position in spectacular settings around the globe, the pair presents the world from an unusually captivating perspective. The forethought and details demonstrate Osmann’s artistic vision and talent as location, light, timing, and wardrobe all play important roles in creating his visually stunning and awe-inspiring images.
Osmann received his degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College in London. In pursuing his passion for the visual arts, he owns a videography firm in Moscow and continues to work on the “Follow Me To” series.
